How To Wash Your Hair Extensions

If you’ve got two or more rows of hand tied extensions, you know how tough it can be to wash your hair at home. There’s a lot of hair to deal with! Keeping the top of your wefts clean is important though. Here’s how to wash your hair if you have extensions:

  1. Separate the hair in between the rows before you get in the shower.

  2. Grab a clip or hair tie secure the sections and keep the top sections up and out of the way.

  3. Wash the lower section with a sulfate and paraben free shampoo, focusing on the scalp and the top of the wefts. Place your middle finger above the weft and your index finger below. Follow the weft line, scrubbing both your hair and scalp at the weft line as you move your hands to the back of your head.

  4. Rise the shampoo from your hair and scalp.

  5. Let down the hair you clipped back.

  6. Follow the same process as outlined in steps three and four but focusing on the top weft.

  7. After rinsing the shampoo from your hair, use a deep conditioning mask or treatment on the ends of your hair.

  8. Rinse the conditioner from your hair.
